You don't
have to be
"Saved"
to go to
Heaven!

(Think Again)

Some people think you don't have to be "saved" in order to get to Heaven.

However, the Bible says otherwise:

"For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have ALL
MEN to be SAVED, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."
  1 Tim. 2:3-4

You see, you can't get to Heaven if you are not saved, because the Bible says that, in the
end, only the saved will be there:

"And the nations of them which are SAVED shall walk in the light of it [HEAVEN]: and
the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it."
  Rev. 21:24

Unfortunately, few people will actually get saved.   Jesus Christ, Himself, said so:

"Then said one unto him, Lord, are there FEW THAT BE SAVED?   And he [Jesus] said
unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter
in, and SHALL NOT BE ABLE."
  Luke 13:23-24

And the reason so few get saved is because most people are trying to SAVE THEMSELVES
in spite of the fact that Jesus said it is impossible:

"When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, WHO THEN CAN
BE SAVED?   But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, WITH MEN THIS IS
IMPOSSIBLE; but with God all things are possible."
  Mat. 19:25-26

You see, many people are trying to save themselves through baptism, confirmation,
communion, church membership, self-righteousness, and good deeds.   But to all these
"works of righteousness" the Bible says:

"NOT by works of righteousness which we have done, but according
to his mercy HE SAVED US..."
Titus 3:5

Unable to save ourselves, we are ALL lost, helpless, hell-bound sinners in need of a
Saviour; someone who is willing to pay for our sins by dying in our place.   That's why Jesus
Christ came to earth in the first place.   He said:

"For the Son of man [Jesus Christ] is come TO SAVE that which was LOST."   Mat. 18:11

Christ came to die on a cross for you and me.   Jesus, Himself, said:

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.   For God sent not his Son into the
world to condemn the world; but that the world THROUGH HIM MIGHT BE SAVED."

   John 3:16-17

The Bible further says:

"This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the
world TO SAVE SINNERS; of whom I am chief."
  1 Tim. 1:15

God's grace, in sending His Son to die in our place, is what saves us.   Salvation does not
come as a result of our own efforts.   It is a gift and not something we can earn or buy.   No
one will brag as to how they did enough "good works" to get themselves to Heaven.   The
Bible says:

"For BY GRACE are ye SAVED THROUGH FAITH; and that not of yourselves: it is the
gift of God.   NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast."
  Eph. 2:8-9

The only bragging anyone will hear in Heaven will be the saved bragging on Jesus Christ,
who the Bible says:

"...HATH SAVED US, and called us with an holy calling, NOT ACCORDING TO
OUR WORKS, but according to his own purpose and GRACE, which was given us in
Christ Jesus before the world began."
  2 Tim. 1:9

That's why there is no other way to get saved except through Jesus Christ.   The Bible says:

"Neither is there SALVATION in any other: for there is none other name under heaven
given among men, whereby WE MUST BE SAVED."
  Acts 4:12

For example, when the Philipian jailer asked Paul, "Sirs, what must I do to be SAVED?"
(Acts 16:30), Paul simply answered:

"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be SAVED, and thy house."   Acts 16:31

This belief and trust must accompany a true repentant attitude; a change of mind.   A
willingness to forsake your sinful practices, religious beliefs, and anything else that goes
contrary to God's will as revealed in the Bible.   True repentance means a change in
direction from following your own will and therefore submitting to God's will; a change
that comes from realizing that you've been rebelling against your Creator all along.   The
Bible calls this realization godly sorrow:

"For godly sorrow worketh REPENTANCE TO SALVATION not to be repented of: but
the sorrow of the world worketh death."
  2 Cor. 7:10

Therefore, the Bible says:

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus [i.e. REPENT], and shalt
believe in thine heart
[i.e. TRUST] that God hath raised him from the dead, THOU
SHALT BE SAVED."
  Rom. 10:9

Once a person repents and trusts Christ as their Lord and Saviour, the Bible says they are
justified before God and no longer subject to His judgment and wrath:

"Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be SAVED FROM WRATH
through him."
  Rom. 5:9
