"Pocomam is now spoken by about 25,000 Indians in scattered communities in south-central Guatemala, although it is believed once to have been common to a considerably larger area, possibly extending into El Salvador.   The Oriental (Eastern) Pocomam dialect is used in an area around Jalapa; a Western dialect can be heard in the Antigua area.
