Patrick (389?-461?) [Patrick was born into a Christian family in Scotland. As a teen he was captured by a band of Irish plunderers and became a slave, but during this time he became a Christian. He received a "Macedonian call" to labor for Christ in Ireland. He was greatly used as a missionary and encountered stiff opposition from the Druids. There is no evidence he was sent by the Pope or that followed Romish practices. He used the three-leafed shamrock to illustrate the Trinity.]
