What is
Evolution
Saying
            About

You?

What does evolution insinuate about
You, Personally?

Maybe you've never given the whole issue of evolution a second thought.   Maybe you believe
that evolution is a subject better left to the scientists.   Perhaps whenever you hear about an-
other discovery made somewhere claiming to add another brick to evolution's supposed wall
of truth, you assume that evolution has been proven as fact.

However, setting evolution's questionable validity aside, do you realize the profound
insinuations evolution is making about you as a breathing, feeling, and emotionally complex
human being?   The following quotes, by leading advocates of evolution, will shed some light.

  Insinuation #1:

You are an accident, with no real purpose or
reason to live whatsoever

Humanist John R. Baker, in an article entitled "Fundamentalism as Anti- intellectualism,"
from The Humanist 86 (March/April 1986) stated: "In actuality, events in the universe may
be based upon CHANCE AND PHYSICAL LAWS that have always existed, and human
existence has NO OTHER MEANING THAN THAT WE EXIST."

Now, before you start citing family, friends, and career, as a purpose or reason to live,
remember that, compared to eternity, none of that means a thing.   After all, you will spend
a much longer time dead than alive.   And the implications of evolution eliminate any hope in
an after-life.   The "Humanist Manifesto 2" as found in The Humanist 33 (Sept./Oct. 1973)
states that: "Science affirms that the human species is an emergence from natural
EVOLUTIONARY FORCES.   As far as we know, the total personality is a function of
the biological organisms transacting in a social and cultural context.   THERE IS NO
CREDIBLE EVIDENCE THAT LIFE SURVIVES THE DEATH OF THE BODY."

(By the way, it is no surprise that after one or two generations have been taught
evolution in the schools, we find our youth shooting each other over a pair of Nikes.   Life,
with no apparent meaning now or in the here-after, has been greatly cheapened.)

Personally, how do you feel about being just an accident without purpose?   This means
everything you've done in life was for nothing and means nothing.
  Yet, let's face it, deep
down inside there's a part of you that assumes your existence had some profound meaning
in the grand scheme of things.   And if you think this first insinuation is bad,

The next one is even worse . . .

Insinuation #2: YOU are not real

In other words, since you evolved from inanimate "non- thinking" molecules, your sense of
self-awareness is merely a result of the complicated series of biochemicals interacting within
your brain.   Consciousness is therefore a hallucinatory by-product of physical matter.
For example, in the book, Omni Interviews, p.137, Dr. Pribram states: "In human brains,
the ratio of cortex [gray matter] to basal ganglia [the very front end of the brain stem] has
increased, ACCOUNTING FOR CONSCIOUSNESS and so on."

Other uniquely human characteristics are also said to be physically fabricated.   Dr.
Pribram further states on p.149: "That FEELING OF FREEDOM, that mental property,
HAS EMERGED from our particular brain, FROM THE ORGANIZATION OF ITS
MOLECULES, CELLS, AND SO ON."
Omni Magazine even described Dr. Karl Pribram
as trying to "Bridge the gap between the minuscule FIRINGS OF SINGLE BRAIN CELLS
and the enigma of CONSCIOUSNESS."

Jonas Salk, inventor of the polio vaccine stated in Omni Interviews, p.102: "The brain
has now become SO COMPLEX as to evidence the emergent qualities of INTUITION AND
REASON."

Your sense of consciousness seems profoundly real to you, doesn't it?   When a loved one
dies you experience emotions and feelings toward them that continue on for the rest of
your life.   You grieve, hoping that they are still conscious somewhere.   You may even look
forward to seeing them again.   The thought of non-existence is totally foreign and un-
natural to you.   Why, even when you sleep your brain is busy dreaming and reminding you
of your existence.
Your sense of self-awareness is so strong that something inside of you tends to gravitate
toward religion or anything else involving the supernatural.   But evolution says: forget all
that nonsense and accept the fact that there is no YOU; it's just a bunch of "mindless"
neurons going off in your gray matter.   Nobel prize winner, Roger Sperry in Omni
Interviews
, p.197, stated: "CONSCIOUSNESS, free will, and values-three old thorns in the
hide of science.   MATERIALIST SCIENCE COULDN'T COPE WITH ANY OF THEM,
even in principle.   They're in direct conflict with the basic models.   Science has had TO
RENOUNCE THEM - TO DENY THEIR EXISTENCE or to say that they're beyond
science."

Sperry goes on to say on p.199: "We wholly REJECT ANYTHING SUPERNATURAL,
mystical, or occult in favor of the kind of reality validated by science. . . . I don't see any
way for CONSCIOUSNESS to emerge or be generated apart from a functioning brain.
Everything indicates that the human mind and CONSCIOUSNESS ARE INSEPARABLE
ATTRIBUTES of an EVOLVING, SELF-CREATING CEREBRAL SYSTEM."

Evolution insinuates that when you die, your illusionary soul-like consciousness stops

along with your brain activity.   This attitude is exemplified by Dr. Carl Sagan himself who,
sadly, in 1994 was diagnosed with Myelodysplasia, a rare bone-marrow disease.   He has died
since then, but in an article that appeared in Parade magazine, March 10, 1996, p. 18, he
stated that: "I would love to believe that when I die I will live again, that some THINKING,
feeling, REMEMBERING PART OF ME WILL CONTINUE.   But as much as I WANT TO
BELIEVE THAT, and despite the ancient and worldwide cultural traditions that assert an
afterlife,
I KNOW OF NOTHING to suggest that it is more than WISHFUL THINKING."

He goes on to say: "If there were life after death, I might, no matter when I die, satisfy
most of these DEEP CURIOSITIES AND LONGINGS.
But if death is nothing more than an
ENDLESS, DREAMLESS SLEEP, this is a forlorn hope.   Maybe this perspective has given
me a little extra motivation to stay alive."

Let's be honest, the previous two insinuations made by the theory of evolution simply
don't concur with what you are experiencing and feeling as a human being.   You inherently
strive for a sense of purpose, and possess a self-awareness that transcends this physical
world.
You instinctively assume that there is something beyond your present existence.   Your
emotional psyche cannot fully accept the idea of nothingness beyond the grave.   Even to an
atheist, such as Carl Sagan, the idea doesn't come natural.   That's why in his quote he said:
"I would love to believe that when I die I will live again, that some THINKING, FEELING,
REMEMBERING PART OF ME WILL CONTINUE."

   Friend, there's a reason why you have a built-in yearning for never-ending self-awareness
and purpose - YOU WERE CREATED WITH IT!   The Bible says: "And the LORD God formed man of
the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

(Gen. 2:7)   You and I are not just a collection of mindless biochemicals.   You were created
with a soul, which is the source of your consciousness.   The soul is YOU!   What's more, your
soul is eternal.   You were designed to exist forever.   That's why the "endless, dreamless sleep"
that Carl Sagan mentioned seems so unnatural to any of us.

As for your sense of purpose, you were created to carry on an eternal relationship with
your Creator.   But there's one thing that stands between you and God - your sins.   The Bible
says: "Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it
cannot hear: But your iniquities
[SINS] have separated between you and your
God
, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear."
  Isa. 59:1-2
That's why Jesus Christ died on a cross.   The Bible says: "But God commendeth his love
toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.   Much more then,
being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him."
  Rom. 5:8-9

To learn more of what Christ did for you on the cross, please take the
time to read God's plan of salvation found on the back
[below].

IF you were to die today, are you 100% SURE
you would go to Heaven?
  The Bible says
YOU CAN BE SURE (1 John 5:13).

BUT FIRST, you must realize that what keeps
you from going to Heaven are your sins, because:
"...your iniquities [sins] have separated
between you and your God,"
Isa. 59:2.
In fact, in God's eyes YOU ARE A SINNER: "For
all have sinned, and come short
of the glory of God;"
Rom. 3:23.
And Jesus, referring to sinners, said that He:
"shall send forth his angels, and they shall
gather out of his kingdom all things that offend,
and them which do iniquity
[sinners];
And shall cast them into
a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing
and gnashing of teeth."
  Mat. 13:41-42

SECONDLY, you must realize that there is
NOTHING you can do to save yourself and earn
Heaven: "For by grace are ye saved through
faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the
gift of God: Not of works, lest any man
should boast."
  Eph. 2:8-9   Baptism, good deeds,
church membership, self-righteousness are all
examples of good works that cannot save you,
because: "Not by works of
righteousness
which we have done, but
according to his mercy he
[Christ] saved
us
,"
Titus 3:5.

THE ONLY WAY you can get saved
is through Jesus Christ.   He said: "I am the
way
, the truth, and the life: no man
cometh
unto the Father, but by me."

(John 14:6)   THAT'S WHY: "...while we were
yet sinners, Christ died for us."

(Rom. 5:8-9)   THEREFORE: You must REPENT
(change your mind); admit that you are a Hell
deserving sinner and can't save yourself.   And
call upon Christ, and Him alone, to save you.
"if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus
[REPENT], and shalt believe in thine
heart
[TRUST] that God hath raised him
from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
  Rom. 10:9
