Don't Blame
Mother Nature
for
Natural
Disasters!

Friend, as you observe natural disasters occur
throughout the United States it's common
to hear people blame Mother Nature.   However,
take a brief moment to consider this:

Perhaps it's God who's trying
to get mankind's attention!

This isn't as far-fetched as it sounds.   The Bible refers
to God doing this very thing: "Persecute them with
thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy
name, O LORD."
  Psalm 83:15-16

Now, you may find it hard to believe that God would go
to such extremes to get our attention.   But often, that's
what it takes.   Most people truly seek His face ONLY
when they're in danger of losing their lives or property.
That's why when God looks down upon mankind He
says: "...There is NONE THAT SEEKETH after
God.   They are all gone out of the way, they are
together become unprofitable; there is none that
doeth good, no, not one...FOR ALL HAVE
SINNED, and come short of the glory of God."

Romans 3:11-12,23

God will sometimes use a disaster to remind
us there is something even more important
than our worldly possessions.   How often do we see

many battling to save their possessions, when in the
end, THEY CAN'T TAKE IT WITH THEM?

When the disaster is over whatever they've managed
to hang on to can only be used for that relatively
short period we call a lifetime.   And when that "blip"
of time is over the only thing they'll take to the
other side is their soul.   The Bible says: "It is
appointed unto men once to die, but after this
THE JUDGMENT."
  Hebrews 9:27

You can see why God would want
to get our attention.

He wants to remind us how fragile our lives can be.   He
wants us to take heed and remember that He exists and
hates sin.   He wants us to realize how quickly we can
slide before Him in judgment.   In fact, Jesus Christ
warned: "And fear not them which kill the body, but
are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him
which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."

Matthew 10:28

But there's good news!

For the Bible also says: "The Lord is not slack
concerning his promise, as some men count
slackness; but is longsuffering
to us-ward
, not willing that any should

perish, but that all should come to
repentance
."
  2 Peter 3:9

God is patient and longsuffering.   And as He fires off
warning shots in the form of disasters He wants
us to know that there is an alternative to facing Him
in judgment.   That's why He offered His Son, Jesus
Christ, as a willing sacrifice.   The Bible tells us:

"But God commendeth his love towards us, in
that, while we were yet sinners, CHRIST DIED
FOR US.   Much more then, being now justified
by his blood, we shall be SAVED FROM
WRATH through him."
  Romans 5:8-9

Christ died for our sins, so we wouldn't have to,
"For the wages of sin is death; BUT THE GIFT
OF GOD is eternal life through Jesus Christ
our Lord."
  Romans 6:23

Salvation is a gift bought and paid for
by Jesus' death and shed blood.

We CAN'T save ourselves with our good deeds,
our self-righteousness, our baptism or even our
church membership.   That's why God offers salvation
as a FREE GIFT that we can receive if we exhibit:

"REPENTANCE toward God, and FAITH toward
our Lord Jesus Christ."
  Acts 20:21

That means that a person must repent; change their mind
and agree with God that they're a hell-bound sinner
who needs to put their trust (faith) in Jesus Christ as
their one and only LORD AND SAVIOUR.   The Bible
promises:

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth
the Lord Jesus
[i.e. REPENT], and shalt believe
in thine heart
[i.e. TRUST] that God hath
raised him for the dead, THOU SHALT BE
SAVED."
  Romans 10:9

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the
Lord SHALL BE SAVED."
  Romans 10:13

Please consider what you've just read.   As longsuffering
as God is, He will only fire so many "warning shots"
before it's too late.

"Come now, and let us reason together, saith
the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they
shall be as white as snow; though they be red
like crimson, they shall be as wool."
  Isaiah 1:18
