Kashmiri...
"Kashmiri is spoken by more than one and a half million of the 4
million inhabitants of the disputed territory of Kashmir, 80 per
cent of which is controlled by India.   Kashmiri is usally con-
sidered an Indo-Aryan language, although affinities with the
Dardic tongues are noted.   The Sarada character developed from
Devanagari during the last half of the first millennium A.D.
Arabic script is now in general use among the predominantly
Musl_m Kashmiri."

"An edition of 1000 copies of the New Testament was printed at Serampore in 1820, after having
been ten years in course of preparation.   An edition of the Pentateuch was commenced in 1822; but
as the types used in printing it were afterwards exchanged for smaller ones, the completion of the
edition was retarded, and in 1832 the Old Testament had only been printed as far as the Second Book
of Kings.
