THE FARGO BAPTIST CHURCH
ADOPT A MISSIONARY PROGRAMPURPOSE: Three-fold.
1) To be intercessors in prayer for the
missionary, his wife and children, and the
work that he is doing for Christ.
2) To be an encouragement to the missionaries and
their families.
3) To develop a burden for missions in the hearts
of church members and the children of this
church.METHOD: 1) Assignments: each church member or family
that is interested will be assigned a
missionary family. Pastor Scheving will
make the assignments to avoid conflicts
(see I Corinthians 3:4). An attempt will be
made to match church and missionary families
with similarly aged children. Singles are
encouraged to participate also, because
there will not be enough church families for
all of the missionaries.2) Correspondence: the church members or family
will write at least once a month (more often
if able) to the missionary family. We will
meet once a month very briefly to discuss
current church topics to include if ideas
are needed. Suggestions would be: people
that have recently gotten saved or baptized,
recent revival meetings, camps, personal
victories or blessings. Having children who
are of similar age to the missionaries'
children write to them would also be
encouraged. Birthday cards and anniversary
cards (dates can be obtained by writing
their sending church) would be another way
to be a blessing.3) Prayer: Ephesians 6:18-20 "Praying always with
all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and
watching thereunto with all perseverance and
supplication for all saints; And for me, that
utterance may be given unto me, that I may
open my mouth boldly, to make known the
mystery of the gospel, For which I am an
ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak
boldly, as I ought to speak."
