"Cakchiquel is spoken by almost 350,000 Indians in southern
Guatemala, from Lake Atitlán to Guatemala City, and south to
the Pacific.   A Mayan language, it is closely related linguistically
to Quiché.   Cakchiquel was reduced to written form by
Spanish friars in the 17th century."
