"Mrs. Grace Cadman and John Olsen were the
principal my.
translators. At some point, 1920 or 1921, two Viet-
namese, highly respected literary scholars joined them.
They were Mr. Pham Khoi and Mr. Tran van Dong, neither of
whom were Christian. The British Foreign Bible Society
underwrote the cost. Mr. Cadman and his
staff of workers did the printing of the Bible in Hanoi.
In the translating process John Olsen used as a guide and
basis for his work the French Synodal
Version and the Roman
Catholic diglot version (French and Vietnamese.) The Cadmans
used the Catholic Version and the Louis Segond
French Version.
In their final revision they sought to conform the Vietnamese
translation to the American Standard
