Amharic...
"Amharic is the official language of Ethiopia, although spoken by
less than a fourth of Ethiopias 22 million inhabitants.
Deriving
its name from Amhara, the old northwest-central region, it has
been in use in the central provinces as a literary language since
the 14th century. Amharic is coming into use as a second lan-
guage among many Ethiopian tribes."--1000 Tongues, 1972 [Info

**File: Amharic Critical Text History
"The Biblia Amharica was translated by Ethiopian
pastors and
British mies. and published in 1886. The source text
was the ancient Geez Bible which was translated from ancient
Greek and Hebrew texts. These texts largely conformed to the
Received Text type. This Bible is available from some branches
of Bearing Precious Seed today.
A 1952 Amharic Bible is more commonly available and is
much more conservative than the more recent Amharic
translations." --PS [Info only]
