THE NEW AGE
THE OLD LIES
THE NEW AGE The New Age is not some kind of minor, weird, post- hippie movement. It is not simply a strange philosophy or fun and games taken up by a collection of flighty actresses and entertainers. This is neither a Shirley MacLaine phenomenon, nor is it simply an example of mind games for the restless and affluent crowd. This is an unheralded, almost unimaginable, religious, political, economic, social, cultural, and scientific movement that has already dramatically changed this planet whether you know it or not.1The purpose of the New Age movement is to form a one-world religion and government. As head of this new system, Lord Maitreya, the New Age 'Christ,' can introduce an age of peace, prosperity and love. According to the New Age teaching, each two-thousand year period is represented by a zodiac sign. New Agers claim Christianity began with the Picean Age and must now be replaced with a new religion for the Age of Aquarius. This New Age will consist of 'enlightened' or 'Christ-conscious' people who 'come in touch with themselves' through contacts with spirits. Because they believe Christian doctrines hinder them from entering the New Age, they seek to subvert and replace eternal truth with ancient lies.
New Age beliefs may be narrowed to eight principle doctrines.
1. The New Age movement denies that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God; they reject Jesus as God and the Saviour of the world. New Agers accept Jesus as an 'enlightened' man who studied the occult and Eastern religions. They dethrone Jesus by trusting in reincarnation and the law of karma, which states that the actions, good or bad, in a previous life affect this life or the future ones.
2. They exchange a personal God for an impersonal, cosmic energy god-force. Since their is no personal God, they teach that people must save the earth from destruction.
3. New Agers believe people are gods and have the power of 'the forces,' which is the power of the occult. These forces, or powers, that men have forgotten how to use, can be activated by listening to their Higher Self with their Inner Ear. They reject the triune God, substituting their own trinity of mind, body and soul. This trinity is said to be evolving to godhood.
4. Aquarians believe that people should let spirits from the spirit world direct their everyday actions. They declare that every person has a Third Eye, which allows him to communicate with the spirit world. The spirit world directs and speaks when one enters into meditation or a trance state. Man becomes enlightened or 'Christ conscious' when he freely communicates with his Higher Self, Inner Ear and Third Eye.
5. New Agers accept all major religions except those which teach Jesus Christ is Saviour and the answer to man's spiritual problems.
6. New Agers reject the Bible as the final authority, but use selected Scriptures to give credibility to their doctrines. They twist God's Word to make it say what they want to believe. New Agers are pushing for a new universal bible which will be written to promote their teachings.
7. This group insists that people should not feel guilty because of sin or evil, but should feel good about themselves, alleviating guilty consciences. Love and peace are the ultimate New Age realities. Therefore, Jesus Christ's death was unnecessary for salvation.
8. New Agers reject a literal Heaven or Hell because of the doctrine of reincarnation. In reincarnation life and death are just different frequencies. When a person dies, he changes frequency to astral space and then awaits his
future destiny on earth. Therefore, life and death are unimportant and have no reality.

isolation tanksNew Agers have infiltrated every area of life. They may be found in high corporate positions, in universities, hospitals, federal and state government agencies, and even on the White House staff. New Age thoughts and teachings are being forced into our minds through television, movies, and the media. Occult movies validate experimentation with the occult. Rock songs sing about no death, living forever, heaven on earth, karma and reincarnation. Even some giant United State corporations have discussed how teaching metaphysics might help their executives in the marketplace and their employees in productivity. The movement has its own music, which is stocked in most record stores. Today, bookstores supply more New Age books than Bibles.
The New Age movement uses the same method Satan used in the Garden of Eden. Satan tempted Eve to eat
the fruit of the tree which God commanded the first couple not to eat.
First, Satan promised Eve that she would not surely die. New Agers promise their followers that they will not die. They will be reincarnated.
Second, Satan promised Eve she would become as God. The New Agers teach that all people are gods.
Third, Satan tempted Eve by causing her to physically desire the fruit. Likewise, New Agers entice the world by offering excitement, sparkle, and wonderful adventures and experiences. They provide sensual alternatives to biblical Christianity.
New Agers believe their religion meets the needs of 'thinking' people better than Christianity. By offering these things they attempt to fill the spiritual void in all people. New Agers act upon the need people have to be accepted and liked by accepting any belief an individual may have. They flatter man's sinful condition by telling him he isn't a sinner and what he does is just an expression of self. New Agers encourage pride and the fulfillment of lustful desires. They lead man to think he can take control of himself and his future by joining this movement.
The power of the occult is as real as Satan himself.
People do have supernatural powers, but these powers come from Satan and his demons, not God. One of Satan's greatest weapons is that most people do not believe he exists. Therefore, they do not fear him or his powers. Satan uses the New Age movement to deceive people just as he used the serpent to deceive Eve.
The New Age movement puts on a Christian facade by using familiar Christian terms, phrases and euphemisms. However, these expressions have different meanings to the New Agers. For example, they use the word "God," but they mean energy force. By using the Bible as a reference, New Agers cause people to believe they accept Christianity.
The New Age doctrines and spirits must be judged
on the basis of God's eternal Word. A study of the follow-
ing Scriptures will be helpful: 1 Timothy 4:1, 2; 1 John
4:1; Galatians 1:6-9; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; John 14:1-6;
Acts 2:36; 4:12; 1 Timothy 2:5, 6; 1 John 1:9; Romans
10:13.
God's people should not become involved in this move-
ment. When the New Age movement is unmasked, all one
can see is Satan and his demons.Kathleen Gammill

2Rebirthing uses hypnosis to go back into previous life ex-
periences.
3Necromancy is communing with the spirits of the dead.
4Astral travel occurs when the soul leaves the body for journeys
and adventures."(1)Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; (2)Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;" (I Timothy 4:1-2).
"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world." (I John 4:1)
"(6)I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: (7)Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. (8)But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. (9)As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." (Galatians 1:6- 9)
"(1)Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; (2)By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. (3)For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; (4)And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" (I Corinthians 15:1-4).
"(1)Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. (2)In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (3)And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (4)And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. (5)Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? (6)Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:1- 6)
"Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ." (Acts 2:36)
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)
"(5)For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; (6)Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time." (I Timothy 2:5-6)
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (I John 1:9)
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)
