Dear Friends,

For over thirty years now I have asked people all over the world to "Pray
each day - for S.E.A.,"
and to make Thursday a special "Day of Prayer" for our
ministry.
Our organization S.E.A. stands for Salvation Evangelistic Association.
Our home church is the Cleveland Baptist Church of Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
We use the word "Salvation" in our name because this world needs to be saved.
The old song says, "We have heard the joyful sound, Jesus saves, Jesus saves,"
and He truly does just that.
Our ministry, for over forty years now, is to preach Jesus as the solution
to every problem, the answer to every question and the eternal Saviour for every
sinner.   We start New Testament Baptist Churches in areas where there are
none, do mission work in over thirty-five countries, hold revivals and mission
conferences, preach in street meetings and open air evangelism, and raise
money for national pastors, buildings and property for the Lord's work.
This little booklet is given to you to ask you to pray with us as we work
all over the world for souls.

The whole world is lost in the darkness of sin,
The light of the world is Jesus,
Like sunshine at noonday, his glory shone in,
The light of the world is Jesus.
Oh come to the light tis shining for thee,
        Sweetly the light has dawned upon me;

Romans 10:14
"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and
how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they
hear without a preacher?"

Please read this booklet and join us in praying for the ministry of Local
Church Evangelism.
                                                          Thank you,

                                                          Larry Clayton

The Need For Prayer

Jesus started His church in Mark 3:13-14.

"And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he
would: and they came unto him.

"And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he
might send them forth to preach
[.]"

Jesus did this after a night in prayer with the disciples.

Luke 6:12 "And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a
mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God."

Can you imagine what it would be like to spend a night alone with Jesus,
the Christ, in prayer?   Oh, what a night, oh, what a moving experience.

In Luke 11:1, the disciples (the called-out ones) asked Jesus, "Lord, teach us
to pray
[.]"   Having been affected by hearing Jesus pray, their request, I am sure,
was from their hearts.   They were saying: "Enroll us in your school of prayer,
help us to pray as you pray, lead us to greater heights in the prayer experience.
Lord, teach us to pray."

Today we are living in the Last Days.   These are the days just before Jesus
is to return to catch His Bride away to glory; and our prayer is the same as the
first disciples, "Lord, teach us to pray as you taught your disciples."   Oh, how
we need to pray today, more than any other time in the history of the world.   It
seems the entire civilization is falling apart.   Men are dying by the multitudes
and slipping off into Hell.   "Hell hath enlarged itself," the Bible says.   The
family is falling apart and the Local Church is despised by many.

We Need a Revival in Prayer

I. Prayer Is an Absolute Necessity for The Operation of a Local Church.

   A. God promises to hear the prayer of a Local Church.   John 14:14 "If ye
shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it."

   B. Prayer gives God's church confidence.   I John 5:14, "And this is the
confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to
        his will, he heareth us:"

   C. Prayer gave the early church boldness.   Acts 4:31, "And when they had
        prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together;
and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word
        of God with boldness."

   D. A prayer meeting was the first act of the church after the ascension of
Jesus.   Acts 1:14, "These all continued with one accord in prayer and
supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with
        his brethren."

   E. Prayer is to be given by the church for healing.   The promise of healing
and miracles is given to the Local Church, not to individuals.   James
        5:14, "Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church;
and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the
        Lord:"

James 5:15, "And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord
shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be
        forgiven him."

Phil. 4:6-7, "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto
God.   And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall
keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

II. Prayer Should Be a Part of Our Daily Living

I Thess. 5:17 "Pray without ceasing"

Daniel would rather spend a night with vicious lions than one day without
prayer.

I met God in the morning,
When the day was at its best,
And His presence came like sunrise
Like a glory to my breast.
All day long His presence lingered
All day long He stayed with me,
And we sailed in perfect calmness,
      O'er a very troubled sea.
Other ships were blown and battered,
      Other ships were sore distressed,
But the winds that seemed to drive them
Brought to us a peace and rest.
Then I thought of other mornings
With a keen remorse of mind,
When I too had loosed the moorings,
      With His presence left behind.
So I think I know the secret
Learned from many a troubled way,
You must meet Him in the morning
If you want Him through the day.

-Selected

A. We should pray for our family.   "The family that prays together, stays
    together."
I Timothy 2:8, "I will therefore that men pray every where,
lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting."

B. We should pray for one another.   James 5:16 "pray one for another[.]"

C. Our prayers should include all good gospel servants, I Thess. 5:25,
"Brethren, pray for us."   Colossians 4:2-3, "Continue in prayer, and
watch in the same with thanksgiving;"
Acts 12:5   "but prayer was
made without ceasing of the church unto God for him."

-- 4 --

III. Lost Souls Should Be a Part of Our Daily Prayer

I Corinthians 16:9 "For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and
there are many adversaries."

John 1:7 "...that all men through him might believe."
I Timothy 2:4 "Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the
knowledge of the truth."

Prayer Can Be Hindered!

Have you ever had a prayer on your heart that seemed very legitimate to
you, one that seemed that God would answer, but He didn't?   Have you ever
had a problem and you sincerely prayed for the solution and it seemed you were
in an echo-chamber; that your prayers just seemed to bounce back in your face?

Please examine these verses on how prayer is hindered.   I believe if you
will make a good study of these verses, your life will be changed for God's
glory.

Perhaps your prayers are being hindered by one of the following ten
problem areas of your life.

Remember, "Prayer is the rope that rings the Bells of Heaven."

 I. Not asking!   Wishing is not praying.   (Matthew 7:7- 11; James 4:3)   Prayer
     is conversation, companionship, and communion.

II. Iniquity.   Little sins not often seen except by God.   (Psalm 66:18; Isaiah
     59:1-2)

III. Faithlessness.   (James 1:5-8)   Faithfulness and faith are Siamese twins,
they are meant not [to] be separated.

IV. Lustful Appetite (James 4:1-3; I John 2:15-17)

 V. Pride (Job 35:12-13)

 VI. Unforgiving Spirit (Mark 11:25-26)

VII. Refusing God's Word (Proverbs 28:9)

VIII. Refusing to Help the Poor (Proverbs 21:13)

IX. Not Praying for the Despiteful (Matthew 5:44-48)

 X. Family Problems (I Peter 3:7)

Please Pray for Us

Please pray for our work daily.   So often we face the same type of problems
the early church in Jerusalem had to suffer.

We have traveled in backward countries and jungles where we face wild
animals, snakes and deadly insects.   We have had to face unfriendly officials
who claim we have no right to preach in "their" city.

On some occasions we have been in villages where the Communists or
tribal officials had many put to death just because they chose to.   These same
adversaries could have inflicted some big problems on us.

Some times we are working in big cities where the asphalt jungle is
controlled by unfriendly hoodlums and gangsters.   New York is just one of
our mission fields.

Ephesians 6:18-19, "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in
the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for
all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my
mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,"

We believe in your prayers.   The Bible teaches us in James 5:16 "....The
effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

<> Pray for the health of our team.   We wish to "...present [our] bodies a
living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, ..."
(Romans 12:1).

<> Pray for our safety.   "Praying always with all prayer and supplication
in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and
    supplication for all saints;"
(Ephesians 6:18)

<> Pray for us as we face wicked men who oppose us.   "Finally, brethren,
pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be
glorified, even as it is with you: And that we may be delivered from
unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith."
  (II
    Thessalonians 3:1-2)

<> Pray that we may have God's blessings on our financing, His work.
Luke 16:10, "He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in
much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much."

I Timothy 6:17, "Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be
not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God,
who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;"

-- 6 --

<> Pray for open doors and opportunities to start churches, secure
buildings, purchase lands for God's work.   "Withal praying also for us,
that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery
of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:"
(Colossians 4:3)

Prayer Partner

A prayer partner is a person, or a number of people, who join in praying
every day.   We would like to ask you to be our prayer partner, praying for the
needs of S.E.A. (especially on Thursday).

We find in Acts 3:1, that Peter and John went up together into the temple
at the hour of prayer.

In Acts 4:31 we find the Christians had joined together in prayer.

Matthew 18:19-20, "Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on
earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my
Father which is in heaven.   For where two or three are gathered together in my
name, there am I in the midst of them."

I have always had a prayer partner.   We pray together as often as we can.
In my early ministry, some of my prayer partners were students in the Bible
colleges I attended.   When I was a pastor, my prayer partners were my
assistants, but always, my wife has been my best and most faithful.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, "Two are better than one; because they have a good
reward for their labour.   For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe
to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him
up."

If you have no prayer partner, pray that the Lord will send you one.   If you
have one, please place our name on your prayer list.
