"Wolof, spoken in several dialects, is used as a
lingua franca
throughout Gambia and Senegal, with
isolated groups as far
north as Mauretania and south as far as the Portuguese Guinea
border. It is a West Atlantic language.
The Gambia dialect of Wolof is spoken by about 200,000 people
in Gambia, the narrow West African nation that follows the
