#3 THE IMPORTANCE OF THE BIBLE, Part II
(Prophecy, etc)
Matthew 24:3, "what shall be the sign of
thy [Jesus'] coming, and of the end of the
world?"
Luke 21:26, (Jesus said), "Men's hearts failing
them for fear, and for looking after those
things which are coming on the earth:" Due to stress etc,
heart disease/attacks, are the
leading killers (over cancer, accidents, etc) costing Americans $260
billion/year.
Matthew 24:6-7 "there shall be famines, and
pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers
[multiple] places." There were only 35
natural disaster reported in 1960, 150 in 1980,
300 in 1990 and over 500 in 2007. From 500-1900AD there
were only 21 major
earthquakes. From 1900 to 1983 there have been 52 major
earthquakes. Since 1983 there
has averaged 40 major earthquakes every year!..
Illus.: Holiday Inns had planned to erect a hotel
on the Mount of Olives. They sent a group of engineers to
prepare for the erection. After some investigation they said it could
not be done. There is a geological fault
under the Mount which is causing it to split. (A prophecy fulfilled
when Christ returns. Zech. 14:4)
Jesus also mentioned famine; The world's population is currently
doubling every 38 years.
Jesus mentioned pestilence; Currently we see problems with bees, ants,
bats, AIDs, etc.
Hectic lifestyle, Daniel 12:4 mentions "the time
of the end: [when] many shall run to and
fro [consider travel], and knowledge
shall be increased [at the end of the world]."

(Two witnesses Rev. 11:8-9),
nuclear fallout described in II Pet. 3:10-12 & Zech. 14:12.
The morality will be like just before Noah's flood (Mt. 24:37), The Flood took
place around
2000 BC ..(God deals in 2000 yr. periods).. Genesis 6:12, 5 And God looked upon the earth,
and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the
earth. ...and that
every imagination of the thoughts of his [man's] heart was only evil continually.
The Bible foretells of a one world govt. (Rev. 13:7, 16), a one world ruler
(Dan. 8; II Thes. 2;
Rev. 6, 13), a one world religion (Rev. 17), and a one world economic system
(10 nations,
currently assembling G20 ...666=Rev. 13:16-18)... Illus.: items from
store...UPC = 666 ..
heading toward a cashless system.. (no illegal drugs, black market, extortion,
money
laundering, embezzling, cheating the IRS, no robbery or muggings, no Mafia, no
bank
robbery, (already putting microchips on store products, dog & cats, convicts,
even elderly).
Next event on God's calendar is the Rapture ...
...1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 For the Lord himself shall
descend from heaven with a shout,
with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in
Christ shall
rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up
together with them in the
clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Wherefore
comfort one another with these words.

I Corinthians 15:51-52 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We
shall not all sleep, but we shall
all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump:
for the trumpet
shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and
we shall be changed...
There are over 1800 Bible verses that speak of Jesus coming again (6 times as
many as
foretold His first coming) ... The very last Bible promise...Revelation 22:12
(Jesus said)
"behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me,
...." Matthew 24:21 For then shall be
great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this
time, no, nor ever
shall be... (Describe 7 year tribulation period).
ALSO: The Bible is credible as true science & archeology agree with
it.. ("circle of the
earth," Isa. 40:22, long before Columbus in 1492 AD), globe hanging
in midair (Job 26:7),
moon does not shine (Job 25:5), sea currents, wind circuits, dirt & human body
(the same 14
of 96 chemicals). Illus., Leviticus 17:11 "For the life of the flesh is in the blood:"
([George] Washington
& blood letting).. Archeology, (Noah's ark, 1949 image, Tower of Babel,
Abraham's ruins,
Tomb of Joseph, Red Sea chariot wheels, Mt. Sinai, David's tomb, Nehemiah's
stones, the
Philistines, Hittites, Neb, # kings, Luke's writings, Herods, well at Sychar,
Calvary &
Garden tomb. Many men have tried in vain to disprove the Bible with
archeology only
later to be corrected by a discovery. Illus.: Nabonidus and
Belshazzar
The Bible should never be rejected because of religious
tradition .. Jesus said the
following to religious clergymen who were following tradition instead of the
Bible.
"Why do ye also transgress the commandment of
God [Bible] by your tradition?
Thus
have ye made the commandment of God [Bible] of none effect by your tradition. But in
vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of
men [tradition]."
(Matt. 15:3,6,9) The Bible is God's final authority.
REVIEW: Why should we believe the Bible over everything else?
- God honours it above His own name. Psalms
138:2 I will...praise thy name for...thy truth: for Thou
hast magnified thy Word above all thy name.
- Jesus continually quoted it while on the earth.
- It is the final source of truth and doctrine.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by
inspiration
of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness.
- Jesus said we would be judged out of the Bible
on Judgment Day. John 12:48 He that rejecteth
me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I
have spoken [recorded
only in the Bible], the same shall judge him in the last
day.
- The Bible was 1/3 prophecy when it was written and has
always predicted with pinpoint accuracy
(over 300 prophecies foretelling the life of Christ alone). Much of the
Bible has yet to be fulfilled.
*The Bible is the best gift God has given to man.
All the good Saviour gave to the world
was communicated through this book. But for it we could not know right
from wrong. -
