SUBJECT: THE GRACE OF GOD

Title: What God's Grace Can Do For You.

Text: Romans 5:1-2,5-12,14-21

Introduction: G-R-A-C-E. G_od's R_iches A_t C_hrist's E_xpense.

[God's redemption of us and the forgiveness of our sins] "In whom we
have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to
the riches of his grace;" (Ephesians 1:7).

[God's kindness is shown us through Christ.] Ephesians 2:7--"That in the
ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in
his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus."

I. God's Grace will Rescue you from Ruin.

  A. "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet
sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

  B. "Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved
from wrath through him." (Romans 5:9)

II. God's Grace will give you Christ's Righteousness in place of your Sin.

  A. Your Sin.

     1. "Wherefore, as by one man [Adam] sin entered into the world, and
death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have
     sinned:" (Romans 5:12)

     2. "And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the
judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many
     offences unto justification." (Romans 5:16)

     3. "That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign
through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord."
     (Romans 5:21)

  B. Christ's Righteousness.

     1. "Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to
condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one [Jesus Christ]
the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life." (Romans
     5:18)

III. God's Grace will pass you from Death unto Eternal Life.

  See John 5:24; I John 3:14.

  A. Death.

     1. "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by
sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have
     sinned:" (Romans 5:12).

  B. Eternal Life.

1."For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which
receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall
reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)" (Romans 5:17)

     2. "That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign
through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord."
     (Romans 5:21)

IV. God's Grace will change your Position with Him.

  A. Separation from God.

     1. See Isaiah 59:2; Hebrews 7:25.

     2. "Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to
condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came
upon all men unto justification of life." (Romans 5:18)

  B. Relationship with God.

     1. "And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus
Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement." (Romans 5:11)

     2. "For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the
obedience of one shall many be made righteous." (Romans
     5:19)

V. God's Grace makes you a Saint rather than a Sinner.

  A. Made Sinners by Adam's Disobedience.

     1. "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by
sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:"
     (Romans 5:12).

     2. "For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by
the obedience of one shall many be made righteous." (Romans 5:19)

  B. Made Saints by Jesus Christ's obedience.

     1. "For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the
obedience of one [Jesus Christ] shall many be made righteous."
     (Romans 5:19)

VI. God's Grace will bring Deliverance rather than your Deserved Judgment.

  A. Deserved Judgment.

     1. "Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to
condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came
upon all men unto justification of life." (Romans 5:18)

  B. Deliverance.

     1. "(10)For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by
the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be
saved by his life. (11)And not only so, but we also joy in God
through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the
     atonement." (Romans 5:10-11)

VII. God's Grace will allow you to move from being under the Law to being under Grace.

  A. "Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But
where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:" (Romans 5:20).

  B. See Romans 6:14-15.

Conclusion:

-- When we receive GOD'S GRACE by repenting of our sins and trusting the
Lord Jesus Christ, a CONVERSION takes place. A CHANGE! The NEW
     CREATURE.

We move from RUIN, YOUR SIN, DEATH, SEPARATION FROM GOD, MADE SINNERS,
                  DESERVED JUDGMENT and THE LAW

to RESCUE, CHRIST'S RIGHTEOUSNESS, ETERNAL LIFE, RELATIONHIP WITH GOD,
MADE SAINTS, DELIVERANCE and GOD'S GRACE.
