WE APPRECIATE YOUR FAITHFULNESS IN PRAYING AND SUPPORTING US more than you will ever know. We are so grateful for your confidence in us. Thank you for allowing us to be your mies. and for co-laboring with us. You make it all possible.
THE BIBLE CONFERENCES IN MEXICO were a special blessing to this old man's heart. It is such a joy to see the teaching and efforts of many years still bearing fruit and congregations growing and reproducing themselves. Two new churches were organized -- Ursulo Galvan with 36 charter members and Patbashil with 40 charter members. The Spirit of God was very real and moved in the services in every place. Souls were saved, Christians made commitments, wrongs were righted, and men were called to preach. Twenty-six hours were spent in travel by pickup trucks from one conference to another through guerrilla infested areas and yet there were no incidents or roadblocks by the guerrillas. This is because you were praying! It was my first to arrive by road to 4 different places. Always before, there were no roads -- just trails and it was necessary to go in by foot, mule, or plane. I ran out of "steam" the last few days and was unable to go to two places -- Castillo Telman and Binote. It was a very moving experience to go from Simojovel to Maravilles, a distance of 3 hours in a 4-wheel drive pickup, and see our congregations in 7 of eight villages along the way. This was the same route I took by foot in 1965 that took 12 hours. At that time there was not a single believer in the entire area. Now there are hundreds of believers in the area.
THE 1996 OLYMPICS OUTREACH PROJECT in Atlanta impacted many lives. I was only able to make a brief appearance and had to return to Texas because of a family medical emergency. Bro. Tom Gaudet and the entire team did a fabulous job and worked long and hard the entire time. Over 350 cards and letters have now been receive in response. Every tract had a post card inserted offering a Gospel of John and a Bible Correspondence Course. People from 187 different nations (were identified or verified) received the Gospel message in print. There now have been 10 professions of faith by mail and around 20 cards daily arrive in the P. O. Box. There has been response from 20 different languages. We have not been able to find any Scriptures or follow-up materials in several languages. Our postage bill alone is averaging $30.00 a day. Praise the Lord with us for the response and all that was done. We are grateful for all that had a part in making this possible. Free tracts were provided by Chick Publications, World My. Press, Fellowship Tract League and Revival Literature. Marion International Ministries (Bro. Gaylon Nelms) and Caprock International Ministries (Bro. Ken Black) supplied and printed the cards. People from many different Baptist churches stuffed 400 thousand pieces. Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Fairburn, GA allowed us the use of their facilities. Many churches around the world prayed especially. Others gave special offerings that were used in meeting many needs. We are very grateful to all!
