We're a friendly church family comprised of loving and caring individuals who have a heart to reach out and be a blessing to people. Our folks come from all walks of life, so whatever your age or status, you'll find a warm welcome at Fargo Baptist Church. We're building lives. Nursery...We're Building Lives The nursery facilities at Fargo Baptist Church are spacious and clean. Just as important, our nursery workers are committed to special supervision of all children who are left in their care. We believe it's also important to begin with toddlers in teaching Bible basics in the nursery. We provide tender loving care for your baby and toddler. We're building lives. Children's Church...We're Building Lives We believe that Sunday School and Children's Church are a vital part of a child's growing experience. Children are placed in an appropriate childrens worship service. We prayerfully teach them Biblical and family values that will serve as a strong foundation for their teen and adult years. We strive for individual attention for each child, teaching principles that will aid parents in raising their children. We're building lives. Youth Ministry...We're Building Lives Understanding, guiding, and caring for today's young people is one of our most important ministries. We have trained, skilled adults who teach and help our young people develop right attitudes toward God, family, peers, and self. Meaningful teaching, counseling, and activities are important aspects of the Fargo Baptist Church youth ministry. We're building lives. Singles...We're Building Lives Our 'college and career' people find the important teaching and fellowship they need at Fargo Baptist Church. The challenges of life at this stage bring about many questions needing Biblical answers. We also reach out to the local colleges with our on-campus Bible studies, and provide transportation to church services. We're building lives. Families...We're Building Lives Probably our greatest emphasis is on the family. At Fargo Baptist Church we continually provide Biblical teaching and counseling to strengthen husband/wife and parent/child relationships. Guest conference speakers from around the nation, and annual family camp, and our 'Home for the Holidays' conference provide special opportunities to strengthen the family. We believe the word 'home' is one of the sweetest words on earth. We're building lives. Missions...We're Building Lives The folks at Fargo Baptist Church are excited about their involvement in foreign missions. We prayerfully and financially support missionaries from all over the world. Many of our church people have 'adopted' a missionary family with whom they correspond. We host an annual Missions Conference each spring and bring in missionary guest speakers throughout the year. To help spread the Gospel, we send Bibles produced in our own print shop to people in foreign lands. We're building lives. Outreach...We're Building Lives Fargo Baptist Church is committed to helping people with spiritual needs. We reach out to folks through 'in home' visitation. We also seek to be a blessing to people in nursing homes, hospitals, and jails, as well as shut-ins. We provide bus transportation to people of all ages, believing that lives will be enriched by church attendance. We provide small 'in-home' Bible studies and discipleship programs. These and other ministries are carried out by dedicated people as a labor of love in God's work. We're building lives. Involvement...We're Building Lives If you desire to get involved in something meaningful and eternally important, there are many opportunities at Fargo Baptist Church. Whatever your talent, ability, or desire, you'll find an area in which to minister. We believe that the happiest people in the world are those who have a significant purpose in life. There's no greater joy than to seek, find, and do the perfect will of God for your life. Fargo Baptist Church exists to help you with that goal. We're building lives. ...................................................................... Our Pastor: Our Pastor, Rev. T.C. Scheving, is a native of the Red River Valley. He was a master electrician and contractor when he realized the call of God into the ministry in 1981. After graduating from Bible college and serving three years as an associate pastor, he came to Fargo with him family in 1987. Pastor Scheving and his wife Lori have three children: Jared, Beth, and Joel. Dear FM area resident, We live in a day and age where most folks either don't bother going to church, or go just to 'get it over with.' For many people, God isn't a very important part of life at all. Many sincere people feel that something is missing in their life and desire to get closer to God, but they don't know how. They struggle through the trials and burdens of life and wonder where God is. Other folks ponder such questions as: 'Where did all of this begin?,' 'Why am I here?,' and 'What happens when this life is over?' The Bible has the answer to life's greatest questions. Our Creator has left us an 'instruction manual' on life. At Fargo Baptist, we strive to give people the Bible in a practical way that will help them deal with the needs of everyday life. The Word of God is not an old, outdated history book. It is as up to date as tomorrow's newspaper. The Bible tells us how to get to Heaven when we die, and how to live while on the way there. This life is actually a dressing room for eternity. May I cordially invite you to attend one of our services along with the many wonderful people who call Fargo Baptist their church home. God Bless You. Sincerely Yours, Pastor Scheving ...................................................................... God's Plan For Salvation (The Bible Way to Heaven) <><><><><><> If you died today, are you 100% sure you would go to Heaven? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ... The Bible says you can be! ^^^ [] "These things have I written...that ye may know that ye have ^^^^ eternal life" (I John 5:13). Consider life's greatest question: "what must I do to be saved?" ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ (Acts 16:30). A. You must understand where you stand with God. 1. God loves you and wants you in Heaven forever with Him. [] "God so loved the world" (John 3:16). 2. However, your sins separate you and God. [] "your iniquities have separated between you and your God" (Isaiah 59:2). 3. That includes everyone. [] "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" ^^^ (Romans 3:23). * Jesus died on the cross 2000 years ago to pay for your sins. B. You must understand that Heaven cannot be earned. 1. Not by doing enough good things. [] "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us..." (Titus 3:5). ^^^^^ 2. Not by being baptized, joining a church, or obeying the ten commandments. [] "(8)For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not ^^^ of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (9)Not of works, ^^^^ lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9) * The price for your sins must be paid, but to bypass the death of Christ and try to earn your way to Heaven is an insult to God. C. You must be willing to change your direction. 1. Sin will take you to Hell. [] "the wages of sin is death;" (Romans 6:23). 2. Pride and self righteousness will cause you to miss Heaven. ^^^^ [] (Proverbs 6:16-19; Romans 10:2-3; Luke 13:2-5; Matthew 5:20; Romans 3:28) -- "(16)These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: (17)A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, (18)An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, (19)A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren." (Proverbs 6:16-19) "(2)For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. (3)For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God." (Romans 10:2-3) "(2)And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? (3)I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (4)Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? (5)I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." (Luke 13:2-5) "For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:20) "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law." (Romans 3:28) 3. Faith in yourself, your baptism, or your church will cause you to miss Heaven. [] (Romans 3:24-25; John 1:12-13; Mark 7:6-13; John 3:3) -- "(24)Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: (25)Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;" (Romans 3:24-25). "(12)But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (13)Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." (John 1:12-13) "(6)He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. (7)Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (8)For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. (9)And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. (10)For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death: (11)But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free. (12)And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother; (13)Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye." (Mark 7:6-13) "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3) 4. You must be willing to repent. [] "Repent ye therefore, and be converted" (Acts 3:19). [] "The Lord is...not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (II Peter 3:9) * Repentance means to change your mind or attitude about sin. D. You must believe in Jesus Christ with your heart. 1. A head knowledge about religion never got anyone to Heaven. [] "the devils also believe, and tremble." (James 2:19) 2. Contrary to popular opinion, according to the Bible, most people will not go to Heaven when they die. ^^^ [] "(14)narrow is the way...few there be that find it." ^^^^^^ ^^^ (Matthew 7:13-14,21-23) 3. You must receive Jesus Christ by faith as your personal ^^^^^^^ ^^^^^ Saviour. [] "being justified by faith" (Romans 5:1). * Eternal life was paid for with the shed blood of Christ. Accept it as a free gift. [] "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be ^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^ saved." (Romans 10:13) <><><><><><> CONCLUSION: True salvation is life changing (II Corinthians 5:17) ----------- and cannot be lost (John 10:27-28). If you sincerely want to become a Christian, you can be saved by praying this prayer. (Please understand that the following words are meaningless unless they represent your true heart's desire.) 'Dear God, I understand I am sinful in your sight. Please forgive me. I desire to change my direction. I believe Jesus Christ's death on the cross paid the prices for my sins. Please save my here and now, and take me to Heaven when I die. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.' -- "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." (II Corinthians 5:17) "(27)My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: (28)And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." (John 10:27-28) * If you have any further questions, please call the church office at 232-5500. ...................................................................... Rev. T.C.
